I bought a 1999 beetle from my nieghbor and its been sitting for 4 years, I oiled the cylinders, replaced the battery and the motor spins over fine...it wants to start but acts like it doesnt have enough fuel, i removed the fuel filter and want to purge soem fuel from the tank.....when i turn the key to the run position should fuel come from the line? I would think so unless the pump isnt working but want to verify before i put a new pump in it

Are you getting spark? You might pull a plug spark, connect it to the spark plug wire and ground it, when turning over the engine. If you are getting spark; move on to fuel delivery testing.

Pull up the rear seat and remove fuel pump cover; put your hand on the pump, you should be able to feel it when it is on.

Ayer 4 years; I would siphon out the old fuel and put fresh in the tank.

its definatly a fuel issue.....i cranked it today and still no fuel flowing from the line at the fuel filter...I'm guessing i need to get a pump for it
