I have a 2001 Beetle 2.0 AVH that sat for several months and the battery went dead. After charging the battery I get a crank no start and no power to the ECU (fuses 32 & 34) and fuse #10 continues to blow when the key is turned to the run position. Fuse will not blow if the ECU is disconnected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might check out a wiring diagram and see what is connected, to the fuse. After that; disconnect, each component, one at a time, that is connected to tthat fuse/circuit and confirm, if the fuse pops. A coomon failure; is the ignition switch and melted plug/wires, get damaged, causing starting probelms.

Check out this diy; to check out the switch, plugs and terminal wires for damage.

Let us know; what your testing and investigation results are, we can go from there. Thanks!

The haynes and chilton service manuals (available at most auto parts stores or online at places like amazon; about $20); have simplified redrawn wiring diagrams, in the back of the manual.

There are free vw factory vw manuals online but have track style wiring digrams, which can be more of a challenge to use.
