Can anyone give me their thoughts on this new problem that came up today on my old goat of a car?
Driving on the highway today I had this occur three times. Progressing through the gears from 1st to 5th as I sped up to highway speed on the ramp I went to shift from third to fourth gear and fourth gear wasn't there. I shifted back to third, then again to fourth and it found the "notch" and didn't have an issue getting into fifth gear.
I tested on the third time and found if I pulled the shifter harder it found the "notch" and entered fourth gear.
My guess is that the 15 year old parts that make up the shifter are wearing out.
