Hi to all--i'm new and helping my daughter--her 1999 beetle doesn't seem to like to start in the cold iowa winter mornings.
I didn't believe her until yesterday morning when i started it for her--it ground and ground and didn't fire. This went on for about 5 minutes before it finally fired once, then again and about the third time it started. It's almost like it isn't getting any gas up to the cylinders to fire--of course it's a gas engine. any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
I am reasonably mechanically competent. orren

Might want to load test the battery first...make sure it's up to par....The NB's have an eletrical fuel pump....Sit in the seat, turn the key on for 5 seconds, (Dont crank it over) turn it off...then turn it on again for another 5 seconds...then try to start it....More then likely tho, it's the battery...
