HELP!!
today while driving my bug, I noticed I had absolutely no heat after about 30 mins of driving. the air that WAS blowing through the vents smelled sweet like syrup. I also think i saw smoke or steam coming from under my hood so i quickly shut the heat off. The smell stopped and so did the steam that i think i saw. I never turned the heat back on and never saw more smoke. I drove it another 20 mins like that just fine. No temp lights or anything. i have however been topping off the coolant. Once about a year ago, then 6 months after that, then 3 months after that then once in December. Each time my temp light has been red, flashes, then turns off once i start driving. however today no temp light. any ideas? praying its not a head gasket (im not blowing any smoke) thanks for your advice!!!
