i bought this Bug and the pass side head light was loose the locking ring was broke but since ii had no problem with it coming out i let it be. i had taken several long trips 300 miles one way and headlight never budged. I went to salem and on the way it not only came out it came it came off pulling the wires from the headlight and not the harness.when i finally got another headlight assembly i plugged it in and nothing so i stripped the tape away from the plug back to where it clsmped to the frame looking for stretched wire and so on nothing looks great now i just tried to tap into the good light wires to get it to work and then neither worked so I took wires off now the drivers side off when running on for night lights and only the high beam. i am at a loss any sugestions?

What year new beetle; are you working with? On the 2006 and later model issues; where the headlight plastic plug bracket, it gets warped from heat and this kills the connection to the lamp assembly. To fix this, you can remove the bracket/holder and just plug things directly into the lamp assembly.
