I have a 2006 VW New Beetle. I got my left headlight changed after it went out about a month ago. And then a few days ago the right headlight went out and the high beam signal light on my dash started flashing on and off. Then the left headlight went out too. Anytime I turn the lights on, the high beam signal light is on whether I have them on or not. And the headlights are out. I changed out the fuses for the headlights but that didn't work.

Any ideas as to what might be the issue?

It sounds like both the low beam bulbs may be burned out. The system is designed to keep the high beams always on when this happens. When the bulb on one side burns out the other side is often close behind. Your left side bulb may have burned out again already. Also, check the wiring inside the headlight assembly as it tends to be pretty fragile.

Are the high beams actually on? If you have no lights at all, the head light switch could be bad, or possibly the ignition switch is faulty. My wife's '07 did the same thing and it was the connector in the steering column that had come unplugged.
