My wifes 2005 convertible Beetle is in need of a new roof as its now entirely detatched from the window. I actually have the suction clamps and 3M goop to try and fix it but I think I'm only going to be wasting my own time trying to fix it as I don't think I can do it.

That said, another issue is where the headliner clips around the window. The plastic ring attached to the liner is broken in one corner and the entire thing does not want to stay attached to the glass. I've managed to clip it back in a few times but it keeps detatching again.

Can that plastic part be replaced or is it a case of needing a whole new headliner for a 50p bit of plastic? Apart from climbing awkwardly in the back with pliers trying to clip it back in, is there any better method of fixing the damned thing in place?

There are clips available from vw to fix this issue. They were part of the official fix I can’t remember off hand the part number

they are about $1.25 each and incredibly small but work perfectly
