First post and need to know what the ALH and BEW refer to. I've read some posts, done a search can cannot find what these acronyms refer to. Hoping to go the swap route for a TDI but can't decide which era.

Thanks,

Mac

And the ALH engines had an injection pump. The BEW was a PD, or pump deuse engine. They are different. You can find a lot of info on each over on TDI Club.

Those are engine codes, not acronyms.

Wiki has information on each engine code and its performance. It includes all engines found around the world, not use the US models.

And if you're wondering what PD, TDI, Common Rail, etc mean, those can also be found at Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_engine#Fuel_delivery
