TY, most of what I pulled up are dealerships and the other ones are really not nearby but I will continue looking. Honestly the issue is I have a parasitic drain and when I drive the car and I can take it miles and miles and miles I don't lose power and I now have a dealership telling me I need a brand new alternator that they want to charge me over $1,000 for for the part alone.
This was 2 weeks after they told me there was a problem with the battery even though I said I think there's a parasitic drain and they replaced the battery and charged me close to $600 for that because apparently it's 2 hours worth of Labor to swap out a battery.

Are you open to working on it and do some testing? Any auto parts store, should be able to do a charging system test for free; the vw dealership, is going ti be the most expensive place for parts, labor rates.

Looks like a oem Bosch alternator is $250-$320 range for a reman or new unit and then, just install.

Here is a good video in basic testing and common charging problems:

Thanks so much. Unfortunately I really don't have a place where I can work on it I am open to it though. The thing is I'm not losing power when I'm driving it so I really don't think it's an alternator and they wanted to replace the alternator replace the wiring harness replace the fuse box that's sitting on top of the battery replace all of those fuses and I think they're just throwing anything out there because nobody wants to take the time to try to use a multimeter and figure it out. Honestly I think there's a short in the wiring harness or there's a short in the heated seat.
However those are just guesses and I would need to test it.

Well, you could start with having the free testing done at a auto parts store and confirm, the battery, alternator are good. Then, you can decide, what to do next; the first video, has good testing and harness repair info.

Also, do a search on the Forum for "ground cable" or "additional grounding/ground wire". Back in the day, we all added additional ground wires from the battery ground terminal to the body/chassis. The MKiV's had a really bad problem with "parasitic draws".

Unfortunately I'm not able to attach a trickle charger to keep it charged but I was thinking about putting on a battery kill switch on the negative terminal. Do you think that's going to screw anything up? I have been starting her up daily and not having an issue.

Did you end up, getting the charging system tested and confirm, the battery, alternator are in spec? Remember, that this can be done at most auto parts, stores for free, and can be done in minutes, ruling that possibility out. Once you get that done, then you can start moving on to possibly wiring issues or what component is causing the parasitic draw. Investing in a basic multimeter, it’s not very expensive and can really help diagnose problems such as this.

Well, not yet. The stealership did install a brand new battery around 2 weeks ago. So I feel like the battery is good and now I'm going to take it for a drive today and try and get the alternator in the starter tested.

Not sure this is the appropriate place, but I am looking for someone who services your NB. I have a 2010 Convertible and the experience I have had a dealerships has been less than ideal .

I’m in Ulster County, NY…if you find a good shop please post as I’d like to find a new shop in the future. As for dealers, I buy all of my VW and Audi at Jack Daniels in NJ but like any dealer service dept it’ll be pricey. best of luck!
