Help! Misfire and intermittent p0103

159 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  billymade
Hi, I have 2002 New Beetle, GLS 2.0 engine code AVH, automatic. I have a misfire on cylinder 3 and I replaced the plugs, wires, and coil, but it’s still misfiring. It also intermittently shifts weirdly in 1-3 gear, almost like it goes into neutral for a second then shifts. I can’t figure out what’s causing either or if there rated. Anyone have any ideas?

What are the trouble codes? Have you checked, the fuel injector, cylinder compression or fuel pressure?
Sorry for the super late response, I work full time lol. I checked the fuel injectors and compression and they were good, didn’t get around to test the fuel pressure though. What ended up being the main culprit was the fact that there was no air filter in the box. No idea how that happened, as I do my own oil changes and replace the filter myself every time. The shop I brought it to must not have put it back in. After that, I started testing the MAF sensor and realized the connector was FRIED. Small pieces on the inside were snapped off and some kind of gel was in the connector. Just ordered a new connector to splice into it, so hopefully that’s the end pf my troubles. Thanks for the help!

Ok, if you continue to have issues after the MAF pigtail install; let us know and we can go from there. If you figure out the fix, then please post the resolution, to the repair and that way. we can close out the discussion and others can benefit from your experience, in the future. Thanks.
