I have a vw beetle 1.9tdi 2005. i have a coolant leak on the return coolant pipe which goes down the passenger side of the engine. Where does it go and is it an easy fix ?

Hi my engine looks a little different. The hose is the top overflow hose from the expansion bottle. It goes to a steel pipe and across the rocker cover and then goes back to rubber and down the right side of the engine

If it’s leaking on the bottle side then it’s either the nipple on the bottle or the hose itself. If it’s leaking over the transmission side then I believe the rubber part goes to a metal nipple just under the air intake pipe. It could be as simple as reseating the clamp but will probably require replacement of the rubber hose on that side.

Remove the air intake accordion pipe and you should have fairly good access to both ends of that rubber hose. Yes mine looks a little different because my Golf is plumbed different than the beetle, however it’s all pretty much the same.
