So I was bolting the engine cover back on when I evidently tightened one of the bolts too hard and twisted it off. Now the thread is broken off inside and I have one loose bolt holding the cover on. Anything I can do to get the broken piece out?

You might be able to switch to the 2001 and later style that simply pushes/pulls on/off with no nuts. Otherwise, drill out the broken bolt, tap the mount for new hardware.

Is there anything left sticking out? If so, you could have someone weld a bolt back on it, unless you have a welder, I'd try that before I used an Ez out.

Sometimes, you can do the same thing with JB weld, but you have to be pretty careful not to get it into the threads.
