Hinge flaps for 2003 convertible

My 2003 vw convertible has broken hinge flaps on both sides. Any idea where to find good used replacement flaps and the lift mechanism?

These were failure prone; so much so, that vw removed them from the later models. So, people have many times; decided, to remove the broken portion and leave the wiring harness connected and just leave it that way, as a new one, will probably end up breaking again. As to replacements, I don't know; if they are still available from vw, contact your dealers part dept or look up on vw's parts site. www.parts.vw.com

As to the "lift mechanism"; what parts are you referring to (e.g. hydraulics, mechanical pars, etc)?
It looks like my arms are broken that lift up the big flap when the top is being opened or closed. I'm wondering if this arm can be repaired. The parts are NLA from the dealer and were only used on 2003 and 2004 convertibles, so good used are not easy to find. Anyone have these flaps on a 03 or 04 convertible being parted out? I can use both sides.

Will the top still work if those are unplugged?
While, i haven’t die this myself; from what n recall, members have removed the mechanical aspect of the flaps (what moves)? and left them plugged in place, to keep the top functional? You may need to do some work on them Nd see what works for you?

Thank you for the reply. My issue is I put a new roof position sensor on and when I plugged the roof flap actuator bag in I routed the wires wrong and they got pinched and pulled out of the plug connector to the actuator and now trying to brainstorm a fix.
Maybe post a photos of the damage(?); you could always go to a junkyard and scavenge for parts or vw can sell you new terminal wires, plug housings?
