How do you disable the convertible roof sensor in 2008 Beetle

Help! I have a 2008 Beetle convertible with a manual roof. The passenger side lock (behind the rear seats) won't lock the roof in place when the roof is down. It's the lock that you have to press to disengage when you want to put the roof up. Does anyone know how to disable the sensor so it won't beep? Or, can someone confirm the lock part number? I think it might be 1Y0871662A
