gregoryklausner - Billymade is right - get the ross tech scan tool. It will tell you precisely which sensor is the problem. I have a 2004 with a power top, but had the same beeping issue. The ross tech pointed to sensor F326 (see Page 30 of the SSP281) which is the sensor on the latch. (I may have my right and left backward - one side is F326, the other is F325). My latch was working, but the sensor kept beeping. Turned out the activator arm that presses on the switch button on the sensor had broken off. VW does not sell the switch, only the entire $980 latch. I replaced the activator arm with one from a cheap amazon switch. I bent the arm to the correct angle and epoxied it to the switch. All good for 8 months. You really should fix/replace your latch to insure the top is locked in place. It is only 3 bolts. Took about 2 hours to get to it and put everything back.
