If the rubber tether on your fuel cap breaks. Here is my suggestion on making the repair. First clean up the broken ends of the tether by cutting those off, it makes for a better joint repair.
Use the smallest piece of heat shrink tubing (1/4" x 2-7/8") that will slide onto the broken tether. Make sure you center the heat shrink tubing over the broken section before shrinking your tubing. The heat shrink makes a clean and strong repair.
