Hello fine folks of newbeetle.org!

There’s an expat New Beetle that rolls happily beeping in the city of Minsk, Belarus. This bud claims he got off production line in late ’03 with some 1.8T engine under the hood and a GLS alias to go with it and initially resided in the US until something bad happened to it sometime in August of '08. A road accident made it a wreck which was sold off to an unknown party in far away Lithuania where it was patched up to a certain running condition. And it was good enough to be purchased by inexperienced couple from neighbouring Belarus at a local car market. A couple of years later, and yet another inexperienced and unsuspecting couple makes an impulsive decision browsing through local classifieds in a market where second-hand cars are — [true ones] a rarity — overpriced and usually exhausted. As you may get it, it’s us who look after patient Blue although sometimes we call it Total Loss[y] since it’s exactly what was stated in the Carfax papers when we got to see them, and that was after the money was handed over. Previous owner referred to it as insignificant incident — yeah, you bet! The old buggy was said to be in great shape and not requiring them extra investments. Nah, that was classic worst case scenario possible in our country.

Nevermind a lot of investments that duly followed we love our bug.. even when shows its age and creaks. And that name calling gotta stop too since the Turbo moniker is about to be returned to the fella and glued back so as to never fall off again.

After this eulogy I'd like to say thank you so much for this place, tons of helpful info collected over the years, being eager to share knowledge and help each other. Roll on, people!

wbr,
Vad and Larysa.
