I want Retro-type wheels (?) for my NB

Okay, so at Bugstock I saw that New Beetles can, indeed, have retro wheels and I would like them for mine. I am new to this "pimp you car" and I have no idea where to go. I have an '07 convertible - non-turbo. Currently, it has stock-sized tires and I have no idea what size that is or what that means, But i don't want to have to buy new tires - cause I just did.

So my question - does anybody in the club have these or know where I can get them? I would like to make mine cream and green to match my car so I know some painting will be involved.

If someone would be kind enough to explain to a newbie if these are wheels, rims, hubcaps, or a combo, so I do not continue to sound dumb, I would appreciate as well. I am in SoCal so if there is a dealer down here that has them so I can actually see them...that would be amazing.

Wheels

The owner of this fine bug that I pictured but her "Smoothies" as I now know they are called - at JEGS Performance Auto Parts - Holley - Billet Specialties - Edelbrock - MSD - Moroso - Mr Gasket not that bad of price either...
You are correct - hubcapmike.com said they would fit the basic NBC black rim ,
But then I would have had to buy those too . I was told I wouldn't be
happy in the end . I'll post a pix next week when my car has her "new shoes" !!
I live by hupcapmike.com and went in to the shop. the only ones that fit the NB Rim are the full moons, not the baby moons with the trim rings, like Herbie Jr's. Herbie Jrs came from jegs.com. Pricey bc you need a new rim. However, someone on here drilled their stock rims and add clips, so a baby moon will fit. I am gonna try that after a bit more research - really want the baby moon look!

:) will see how it turns out!
hello, I'm looking something similar as well. I'm wondering if you had any luck with your search? I have a 2002 turbo beetle, and would like the vintage rims/hubcaps/wheels look.

I searched and had no luck and ordered the daisy rims for my bug ( which I love !! ) BUT just as they were put on my car I was told the vintage rims are available with the PT cruiser . I was told the PT cruiser has the vintage look and the same bolt pattern and will fit bugs. I am not 100 percent on this but that is what I was told - best of luck and let us know if this works !!

Hi! There is no "easy" just go out and buy rims, unfortunately. I did a lot of research and looked at a lot of rims. My first snag was that my 2007 came with rims that had "built in hubcaps" so I could remove them. Rather than buying a whole new set of rims, I just switched tires with my husband's 2001 beetle, becuase those rims had the cheap hubcaps that are removable and the underlying rim resembles the orginal bug's rime - with the circular holes. I painted them to match my bug (see here Help Retro Fitting Stock Rims for Baby Moons - The SoCal New Beetle Club)

Your 2002 probably has those rims too.

Then, on ebay I found baby moons for sale. it is important to make sure they are the right diameter for your tire size. Measure the space you want to fit them on. Next, make sure you buy the type that uses clips to stay on. The other type, I can't remember what they are called, won't work.

Next, you have to buy the clips and the rivet tool that helps put the clip on. Then, you are going to have to drill holes into the rim/wheel where the clips will go and then the baby moons will fit.

Its not hard, but its not easy. I bought the baby moons but needed different clips. The clips and stamper I need are $50 altogher and I haven't had the money to spend. You can buy them at Wolfsburg West

clips - Hubcap clip kit

rivet tool - Hubcap rivet tool

Post pics if you do it! I will too as soon as I can afford it.

I looked at the PT Cruiser ones and they did not look like they would fit - I cant remember why - I am actually thing the tire size was wrong, I would have had to buy all new tires as well..
Hopefully it's OK to bump up this thread vs starting a new one. I tired to PM The Cheat but their inbox is full.

Anyone know which wheels these are?

Are they just steel wheels with a hubcap?
