Just bought 2004 5spd manual 1.8T convertible. Literally, today. Nice low miles 72,000. Concerned about timing belt based on age and consequence of if it breaks (will replace next week).
I think I have a good bug mech to do it, but anything else I should have him check? I told him to give it thorough going over. When I test drove, brakes seemed good. top up/down no prob. windows all moving properly (he had replaced the motor in at least one of the two rear). smooth at 80mph. shifted smoothly.
I see the typical "glass/canvas" delamination and will try the glue thing mentioned in this forum (thanks for the idea!).
Here's hoping this is the vehicle I pass down to my daughter for HS. Wanna make it last.
Thanks
Brian
