you seem to have commitment issues :) or shoudl you be commited?
:ha:

I see a good smattering of VW's in that Loooooooong list of autos.

I also seen some Dodge Omni's too. Call me weird, but I've always liked those little cars. Took me and my brothers a lot of places back in the day. It used to be, that you could rent those Omni's/Horizions as easy as ordering drive thru, back home.

Wish you had a 71 Chrysler Newport 2-door in that listing... for sale. Pops used to have one and I'd like to find another.

too many cars?

truthfully? I'm starting to wonder about myself... My wife hasn't minded tho, so that's a plus. I seem to mostly collect Dodges and VW's, so dunno what that is all about. As far as the Omni's go, I bought 5 of them for 440$: delivered... couldn't resist. Of the 5, one we drove, 3 I fixed and sold, 1 scrapped after using for a deep freeze - long story but we lived in Alaska. Don't have a Chrysler Newport, but I still have the 65 Dodge Polara 2 door in my friends back yard; waiting for a rescue. It was a big block 4 on the floor car too, but engine is missing.

My goal is 100! Truthfully, the best car of them all is absolutely the VW TDI Beetle I drive currently. A second great car would be the 1967 Dodge Polara on the list. Talk about comfort, and fast.

That Polara is pretty close to the Newport. The one Pops had had a police interceptor engine in it. He gave it to me- it needed a rear seal, which was a cheap part... just a pain in the butt to replace. I was young and narrow-sighted at the time; wish I would've kept that car. Pops called it "the honeydripper". Man did my brothers and I love that car!

I couldn't help but laugh at this post! I thought I had owned a lot of cars in my lifetime but you have me beat by quite a few! Glad to know your wife is good with it too! Can I ask how old you are to have owned this many vehicles? Maybe it will help me feel better with as many as I've owned! :D

Wow, it's been a long time since I was here! Meanwhile, I moved to Oregon, sold the Doodlebug, bought a truck, and, finally, bought a 1999 TDI Golf a few weeks ago. Thought I'd rejoin the TDI loving New Beetle family, even tho I kind of don't own that... But, here I am! :)

Wife was born in Coos Bay and her sister lives in Brookings! We should have a G2G at some point. Maybe related to the beach and surf perch fishing...

So, here’s my latest TDI saga...
Bought 1999 TDI (new body) ALH Golf, with 295,000 miles on it, for 150$. Had terrible screeching sound emanating from back of Engine. PO thought it was the turbo. I thought so too. Turns out, here were the probs: split intercooler hose, multiple leaking vacuum lines, leaking exhaust gasket, mega carboned up intake, dirty MAF sensor, and, finally snow screen filter completely blocked.

Did all those repairs, plus adjusted the turbo a little, (arm wasn’t hitting the stop due to bad adjustment) and it has boost! Now, I kept hearing a weird dry bearing sound so I investigated the timing belt. Last changed in 2007! Car is in carport and belt kit (and water pump) is on the way! Hope to borrow tools from a friend. I also think lack of boost probably saved the engine from destruction, from the belt system being bad... may also have a bad alternator clutch pulley... oil and air filter is changed. Still want to do the fuel filter ASAP too. And, glow plug circuit malfunction so check engine light is on for now. But that’s easy fix.

I love TDI! Special needs cars lol!

Golf is up and running well. Many little things wrong but nothing major. Timing belt kit installed, injector pump timed, vacuumed lines replaced, map sensor and maf, and the N75 solenoid, plus other odds and ends. Have put about 600 mikes on it. Repaired hole in rear bumper and painted with rattle can dupli Cote VW candy white. Matched up nicely.

8. 1985 VW Vanagon
9. 1981 VW Pickup LX
10. 1993 VW EuroVan MV Westfalia
11. 2002 VW Cabrio GLX

13. 1971 VW Super Beetle
14. 2002 VW Passat GLS
15. 1997 VW Jetta GT
16. 2009 VW Eos Komfort

18. 2013 VW Tiguan S
19. 2014 VW Tiguan R-Line 4-motion
20. 2003 VW New Beetle Turbo S

When I met my wife, I had the Fiat and she had the Mazda. When we married, the Fiat was already replaced by the Jetta although the actual ownership of the two were simultaneous for a few months. We still had the Mazda. My wife had a Honda Civic prior to me meeting her.

The above list chronicles the order of acquisition. The "past" list below chronicles the order of departure.

Six of the above cars were purchased new. The Mazda was purchased new by wife. The Passat was purchased new by my dad and later became ours. The other 12 were purchased used. No leased vehicles are in my past or present, and exceedingly doubtful for my future.

Golf egr modification

Did an interesting, I think, mod to my golf last week. My turbo quit boosting so I rebuilt it. Meanwhile I had done the EGR delete. But, it was still an egr valve, just disconnected. So, what I did was pulled the EGR apart. Then, drilled out the valve and removed it. Then I machined out the raised parts in the bore of the valve. Then, I tapped both holes and inserted brass plugs. Finally I found a VW emblem in the shed, that fit on the top of where the vacuum pod was. Glued it in. Pictures follow:
