hi, I`m in need of a second key for my new beetle 2000, I have split the key I have in half, I have found this number (HL0 1JO 959 753 B) inside.

now is the last letter (B) critical to buying another key fob? or will any letter be ok, I have found loads with other letters at the end, but none with the letter B.

thanks in advance for any help/info.

best regards

Sounds like you have a valet key. The other letters designate other key styles, mostly the remote type. You could get a remote-type fob for you second key. Whatever key type you get, you will have to deal with programming the immobilizer in the car. This website has lots of information about the VW keys and the immobilizer:
