Leather or leatherette?

2057 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Dorado
When I bought my car it had leather listed as one of the options, but I bought it used and it wasn't an actual new car sticker. I am pretty sure it actually leatherette, is there any good way to tell? I have had leather seats before and these just don't seem quite as nice. I guess I would just like to know for sure.

If it's any help, the little "holes" all over the seats are not really holes, just indentions that look like holes.

Darn it.

I had a pretty good feeling that's what it is, I was just hoping to hear someone say, yeah it's leather. Oh well, it is holding up quite well! But it does need a good cleaning.

Thanks SMG.
No prob.

Leatherette always has the perforated middle area, which I'm guessing is done so that dealers can tell one from the other, and for no other reason than that.

They both look good anyway. I'm angry that i got cloth. So much harder to clean.

And so it is the case on the golf course too... No holes!
:D

I think the only good way to tell is to look at the additional leather trim that comes with the leather package. For MY 2002 that included a leather steering wheel and shifter.
