Yeah, definitely check your boost hoses: common failures, are the diverter valve, the hose (behind the valve cover; typically splits, causing boost leak, throws trouble code) that goes from the charge pipe to the diverter valve, plus wastegate hose, brake booster hose, pcv hoses, vacuum jet pump (can break/pop end off) and many other possible boost connections in the system. The diverter valve, can be checked; by seeing, if it will hold vacuum (they can make odd sounds; when they fail).
There are lots of videos; showing pressure and smoke testing, to find boost leaks:
Hey guys, appreciate the replies! The pancake pipe wasnt budging and I didn't see any loose connections there, so I'll likely have to do a smoke or pressure test if possible. I got a P2279 error once but I cleared it and it hasn't come back. And this was after months of the noise, so it's not doing much to my performance. I'll take a look around tomorrow or so.
When mine did this, it was the intercooler hose that connects to the bypass.on the top rear of the engine.
The hose gets old and cracks in it.
You can replace it in a pinch with a standard hose but the fancy cover won't fit.

Anyone know the best way to recover the plastic tabs from inside where the fluid fills up the trans pan?
Hello NB Community,
I'm getting a stage 1 tune on the bug over the next few weeks. My question to y'all is - how does a 215HP/250TQ tune fare with an OEM 1.8T clutch? My clutch has around 50K miles (Luk OEM Replacement) on it and shows no signs of slippage in any condition currently. I'm hoping...
My New Beetle 1.8T made its way back home! Resurrected from an almost certain junkyard death, it has been restored back to life over the last 3 months. Please enjoy a few pictures of it’s current state and stay tuned for more development as the build continues! PS I’ve cc’d in a few vids from my...
I just seareched 5 pages for other clutch vibration issues but did not see a comp issue.
1.8 turbo, 5 speed, about stock NB with ABR ECU performance upgrade.
Today, during a 2 hour drive, I came to a stop to turn right and when I shifted gears, I felt a vibration as I was releasing the clutch...
