Hey All!
So excited to be here and show off my new baby. I have had no luck with cars the two past years after my ford focus hatchback was totaled, and I am making a GIANT leap of faith on this girl...

I purchased a salvage title VW Beetle through auction last week. She is a 2010 base model(From what I can tell). Around 64k miles at time of purchase.
I actually havent gotten to see her in person yet!! She should arrive from columbia, sc, tuesday or wednesday hopefully. These are the auction photos.

My dad is a mechanic and does body work, so the plan is to:
  • Fill some of the dents and nicks
  • Repair front drivers side fender
  • Hopefully salvage the rear bumper to save cost(otherwise new bumper)
  • new rear drivers side tail light
  • new hubcaps/rims(having a hard time with this!)
  • new paint, something with some purple, pink and blue glitter. ;)

that should/will repair her to her true glory! We are praying for no mechanical issues once she arrives.

Long term plans:
  • Roof Rack (pip?)
  • New Head lights
  • Eyelids?
  • Rims?
  • Redo some of the interior accents something fun? Plastidip?
  • Redo the emblems to have some color(pink? Purple? Blue? idk!) Plastidip #2?

So... without further adeu; Meet my Luna. <3

Sweet! Good luck with the restoration, can't wait to see you're progress!
Welcome to the Beetle family, I'm looking forward to seeing your restoration progress.
Thanks you guys! Im so excited, I cant believe I got her. My entire family told me "dont get your hopes up, a 2010 will go for more than that..."
and then holy Crap I won!

If you guys have any good resources for headlights, tail lights and any good resources for hubcaps, Id appreciate them!! :)

Can't wait to see the final results!! :)
As a 2.5 Beetle owner myself welcome. and feel free to check in and ask any questions and ideas. Good luck with your project.:)
Thanks everyone!!! I get to pick her up today, so positive vibes for no Mechanical issues would be great!! I'm hoping for some body work, new breaks and maybe a new timing belt?? so nothing major please!!!!:cheese:

Question, how much did you get it for. ?
I will put it this way, bearing any unforseen circumstances(pleasenooo), we will have less than $4,000 in the whole car. :)

Your New Beetle with the 2.5L i5 motor has a timing chain not a timing belt.

I found that out as I started digging to figure out how much of a pain in the ass it was going to be to change!!! <3 <3 aw yis!
We didnt get to pick her up last night, but I went by today just to take a look.

My response: SUPER confused.
Firstly: look at the back portion of my car... SOMETHING was screwed into my hackback?! what was it? why. What.
Secondly. I am SO confused by this... when I was researching my car I was under the impression pretty much ALL hackback models of the beetle had heated seats. Especially the upgraded package with leatherette seats, which is what I have.
WHERE ARE MY HEATED SEATS! I was really looking forward to that as I have chronic pain issues and the heated seats are so amazing for my back :( I took a photo of my title and it says body style: S2
Any input on that? am I drunk and overlooking it?

Otherwise, We will definetly NOT be able to salvage the rear bumper cover as the support bumper bar thingy is actually sticking through it.
Otherwise, the car has some miner dings and bumps but I know my daddy will be able to make her look amazing.

oh one more thing, the picture of the front end? Theres a weird little disc thing popping out? what is that? rofl

You don't have heated seats. ...when looking at your pictures I don't see the knobs...
It looks like it used to have a spoiler on it and either it was ripped off in the wreck or someone removed it. That's why there is screws on the hatch. As for the "disc thing" that is the spot where your Eye hook screws in if you need to tow it or something.

Looks good man! Doesn't seem to be too hard to get her back together. Sorry about not getting the heated seats.

Good luck! :)
Thanks guys! No heated seats and the seats are manual so I'm a little confused on what package I got but whatever! She drives like a DREAM

You are 100% correct! I was SO MAD! and I walked into the shop and my dad was sanding down the spoiler to put it back on!! it was in the hatch! I was so confused, its hilarious. (note; Cant decide if I want to put it back on!)

Anyways! She drives like a -dream-. Now the problems; We were not expecting the plastic body; So dents cant be knocked out. We are officially needing, a rear bumper cover, a drivers side front fender and, what I'm dreading; a drivers side DOOR. I have found bumpers no cheaper than $300, I've found a fender for around $160... I cannot find a door.
Any ideas guys? :(

Cheapest door on eBay I could find. When you get parts make sure you keep all the recipes and make sure they have the vin and stuff on the receipt too.
I would check out your local salvage yards. I got a front bumper cover for $80 and they were only gonna charge $50 for a fender.
