Need help with cooling fans

935 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  TINO
Last week my 98 2.0 nb started overheating, noticed my fans werent turning on. I checked fans, fuses, coolant, rad thermoswitch, coolant temp sensor all ok. I replaced fan control module and that fixed the problem (fans now turn on when the correct temp is reached), but i noticed my fans dont turn on when the ignition is on/ car off/ a/c on. Air blows out but fans dont turn on. I havent used the a/c in about two years should i be concerned about the fans on turning on? What could be the problem? What should i be looking for? Any insight will be appreciated thank you.

ac issue

The a/c has a few switches that have to be made in order for that to work, temperature switch, pressure switch , ...etc. I don't have the schematic in front of me now but know for sure that's why they don't come on for that particular test. Did you put the cabin blower in one setting at least?
I put the blower speed on the highest setting
bentley book

If you don't want to spend the high dollar$ to buy the Bentley book you can always get the $15 dollar chiltons book it shows a schematic in the back of all the switches that have to be made in order for that fans test to work. I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with the A/C switches. probably low in Freon pressure....
Ok thank you i will check that out
