I have a 2008 convertible New Beetle the top needs replacing. I went on line to buy the top it does not mention the guide straps are they included. I am sorry for my ignorance but I am. I have never had a convertible that needed a top. I live in Modesto CA is there a place that is reputable place that replaces tops? Thank you.

You might contact your local VW dealer and ask who, they use for convertible top repairs. Local upholstery shops, may offer this type of repairs as well; the vw service manual, lists some in Nor Cal but are closer inland in the Bay Area, a bit away from you in RedWood City but you never know, you might give them a call anyway.

Anyone that replaces tops is going to want to also sell you the top. They make money on that. If you buy one, plan on installing it yourself. Convertible top shops are few, and can be very selective about what work they accept. The NBC top swap is fairly involved and all of the shops know this. I got quoted $3500 - $5000 in Georgia several years ago. I ended up changing it myself. With the help of my brother, it took a weekend.
