I've been wanting to psint my wheels for some time now and today I finlally did. Well I painted one of them anyway. Eventually I want to get a real set of custom wheels but for now I wanted to personalize the factory ones. This is where I need your help. I painted one of them black and just for kicks I painted the center cap red to match the car. My question for all of you is should I keep the wheels the dame and just paint over what I have already done, or finish the job and paint the other three the same. I kinda like the blsck with red center but I'm just not sure if I love it. Please help me decide!!

I kinda like 'em. It's different than all the other silver rims out there.

I say do it, then start saving for some custom rims and use these as winter rims or something.

Justin; as I sit and look out the window the pictures don't really do them justice. If you make down on Sunday you'll see what I mean. I think I am going to do them all, but on another day. It's getting late to paint.

I'm torn. I've never been a big fan of dark wheels, although, I have seen some lately that I really like. (noR's for example).

Maybe it's the picture, but with the black wheel, you can't really see much. It kinda resembles a plain old black steel wheel. Kinda looks like you lost your hubcap or something.

I do like the red trim in the center. Maybe if you did the same thing around the outer edge of the wheel? Just to give it a bit more definition?

The close up of the wheel looks much better, I have to say. So maybe it's just more the picture.

You need more contrast, so I would paint the outside edge of the rim red also...

I like the black wheel idea.
Currently, my NB has black Flik Wasps and they look very nice, but I've been toying with the idea of putting my OEM Datona wheels (I think that's what they're called)back on. I like the black you've done, but I'm just not sure about the red center cap. I'm thinking maybe bringing the red in on the cap in perhaps a smaller amount - like a pinstripe. Then, maybe also a red pinstripe around the outer edge of the wheel itself. Well, at least that was what I was thinking of doing with my Datonas.
That said, I don't think aftermarket wheels are always the only way to go. There is a lot to be said about the simple look of OEM+.

Oh yeah, paint the front calipers red too! (I'd do both front and back, but with those rims, it doesn't look like you can see the rear calipers.)

Well I havn't actually finished painting the rest of my wheels but here is a photoshop of what it will look like when complete. Now that I see the finished product I'm super stoked on getting it done!

I think it looks nice and different. Then when you showed that second pic of the before, I loved it!!! It is your car and you should have what you like, I think your wheels are a part of who you are, put on there what makes you do a double look. I don't think you could go wrong with such a good looking bug!!!
