New beetle before 6/1/1998?

I'm trying to buy some suspension and steering front end parts, but all the listings say compatible on beetles built after 6/1/1998. Mine was built in March of 1998. What did they change or any help understanding this. Thanks

I believe that it is the driveshafts that changed. Take a look at this database that lists all the part numbers used in the 1998 New Beetle:

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE [BE] (USA) 1998: FRONT AXLE, STEERING

There are a lot of different driveshaft part numbers, but most of the suspension parts have one number meaning that the part was not changed during the model year.
