Hi all,
I have a 2001 GLX with the 1.8T AVW engine. The CEL has been on forever so I decided to get a VCDS and check it out. It came up with

7 Faults Found:
16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1
P0420 - 35-00 - Efficiency Below Threshold
16795 - Secondary Air Injection System
P0411 - 35-00 - Incorrect Flow Detected
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-10 - - Intermittent
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 -
16685 - Cylinder 1
P0301 - 35-00 - Misfire Detected
16686 - Cylinder 2
P0302 - 35-10 - Misfire Detected - Intermittent
17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add)
P1136 - 35-10 - System too Lean - Intermittent

Switched the coil on Cyl 1 and the misfires moved there so changed that coil. Also replace SAI pump and outlet hose and that fault is gone. Replaced the DV with a stock model and it runs great.

No sign of a cat code but I'm not complaining! Just curious why that may have cleared?

Still getting intermittent misfires on 2 cylinders and intermittent 17544 - but at least the CEL is off for now.

Glad I got the Ross Tech scenner!!

Suggest you verify the engine coolant temperature. These engines should run around 205F, also BE CAREFUL as once the ambient air temps hit 70F, it is easy for a engine to "APPEAR" to run at the correct temperature when in fact the thermostat is weak.

Need to drive the car on a cruise over 30 MPH while the temps are at or below 70F to verify this.

Also post Freeze Frame and Fuel Trim info.

Smoke test for vacuum leaks.
