Hi! I am purchasing the 2004 New Beetle GLS Turbo that I've been driving for the last couple of days today. I'm very excited and was delighted to find out there is a place I can go to discuss my beetle and check on issues. Already (last night) before even signing papers my MIL light came on. Any ideas on what that might be? Car drives great, doesn't get hot, no obvious issues. It is at 105k miles and I was told it recently went through a diagnostic check and 125 point check at the dealership. So any ideas? Thanks!

If there is a Auto Zone near you, they will read the code for free. It could be as simple as a gas cap ajar, to an emission sensor. If you bought it from a car dealer, you should take it there to have it read. Good luck to you!

Welcome to the Org, :wave2: and Welcome to the New Beetle!
Since, you are going to have this car for awhile; I would recommend you pick up a cheap scanner (vag405 or vs450). These scanners; will give you the codes, that can help you diagnose your problem and when you get the codes, post them up here. We will do our best to help! :)

Check out the scanners here ($30-$50); on amazon:

VAG405
Amazon.com: vag405

VS450 (latest version of the above scanner)
Amazon.com: vs450
