two day owner of 2000 beetle....

will keep 16 inch alloys, but want new tires...
....do not like current low profile styles, but prefer wide and big....
Question....what are the biggest tires that can be used without rubbing, looked at some 215/55/16's today and thought they looked pretty good....would like even bigger if possible???

Sure.. I can help with that as well.

1) What kind of driving do you do?

2) Do you drive in snow?

3) Do you value long life over performance?

Yokahama AVID V4S is a great reasonably priced 60,000 mile tire.

BFGoodrich Traction T/A V is another great 60,000 mile tire.

Continental TouringContact CH95 is an oem tire that a lot of people really like. It's not quite up to the standard of the other two but I suggest it if you want to stick with a German tire.

I once tried to install 215/60/R16 on mine, but they rubbed :(

Anyway those 225/50/R16 Fowvay wrote about should look real good on the bug. Good luck.
