Hello everyone! I just purchased my first new beetle. It is a red 99 TDI. I have a question. I am having the infamous blue temp light staying on and it flashes once in a while. I have check the levels and from reading old post, I have decided it is the sensor. I went to the dealer and they sold me a new one but the plugs are different. The sensor that I believe needs replacing is on the back of the thermostat housing towards the firewall. The one I removed had a blue top with a square plug. Am I looking at the wrong sensor. The replacement for it is $35 from the dealer. The green top sensor they originally sold me was only $7. Where is the correct sensor located to cure the blue temp light problem? Thanks guys!

Blue temp light is normal. It means your coolant is below 127*F ... give or take.

That's all. It's saying "hey the engine's cold; don't ask for peak performance".
