Purchased a 2004 2.0 5speed on Thursday night.

While driving home (I bought the car in Texas and live in Alabama) it started to smoke like CRAZY for about 40 seconds then stopped. It will do it periodically..

When I got it home I did a little investigating and descovered Oil in the intake tube between the MAF Sensor and the Trottle body.

It appears the oil is there due to either a bad PCV system or my crankcase pressure is too high and it's blowing oil into the air intake.

Anybody out there had a similar issue?

Thanks
BP

Optimistic: wrong weight oil used
Realistic: worn rings
Mileage? Does alot of smoke come out when you take the oil fill cap off? Smell like blow-by? How does it idle? Maybe clean oil out of intake and throttlebody, do an oil change with correct oil, and go from there.

Here is a DIY showing how to take apart the PCV system and inspect it:

You could have oil building up in there and then releasing suddenly into the intake. Check the reed valve that I point out in the thread. You may need to remove the intake tube that is between the MAF and throttle body to have a good look at it.
That's a great reference thread. Thanks for sharing.
