Hi, all!! :)

I've replaced teh spark plug twice and the plug wire once and am still getting this error.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what to check?

Thanks in advance,

This is a dumb question, but could you be mistaking cylinder 1 for cylinder 4, and vice-versa?

Plugs and wires are the only things I know of that cause misfires.
He may not be mistaking cyl 1 for cyl 4, It could be a case of the ECU coded wrong. My roommate (VW tech) has seen VWs with that problem. I would say swap the outter 2 spark plugs with each other and see if the error follows.

That's weird, I never would have thought that was possible.

Just put new plugs and wires on the two outer ones, and you should be good to go :)

So it's misfiring, eh?

At night, when it's nice and dark, open the hood and start the car. Look at the coil pack. See any arching? Probably will. ;)

To help you see the arching, mist a little water over the coil and wires. Then see if there is any difference in the idle.
