Recently, I unlocked my passenger door, set my stuff in the seat, closed the door to go around to the driver's side, and as I was walking around the car, it chirped and doors locked. My keys were inside! Ultimately I retrieved them, but since then, I've also noticed that passenger window doesn't go down (convertible) when closing the door. Also, dome light doesn't go off if I open and close the passenger door. I've decided it's as if the car doesn't know the door is opening. What up?

All this VW cars are plagued with door lock problems.

On my Jetta I have replace almost all four door lock mechanism. I really dont know what the VW engineers was thinking when they design them.

You problem can be many things including the Confor Control Module thats control the door locks, window, dome light and alarm.

Also, there are micro switches on the door lock mechanism. One of them if the one in charge of turning ON your dome light when you open the door. Since you say that your dome light doesn't go off when you close the door MAYBE this micro switch is FUBAR.

You can make a search on the net for: VW replacing micro switch door lock and you will find a lot of post with pics about this.

Here are some of them:

GOOD LUCK,

Isaac
