I've been trying to fix the airbag light which has been on since I bought the car a few months ago. Ross-Tech VCDS showed:

02511 - Control Module for Seat Occupied Recognition (J706)
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent
00591 - Seat Belt Switch; Driver (E24)
006 - Short to Plus - Intermittent
02511 - Control Module for Seat Occupied Recognition (J706)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
02511 - Control Module for Seat Occupied Recognition (J706)
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
00532 - Supply Voltage B+
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

The last fault did not return after clearing. The seat belt fault (0591) I haven't addressed yet. The J706 faults suggest a problem with the wiring to this module. I also know the PODS system is not working because the seat belt alarms when the passenger side is unbuckled regardless of occupancy. I removed the seat, sprayed the seat harness plugs with contact cleaner and reconnected them. No change. Following the wiring to the J706 and sensor reveals 2 plugs covered with "Do Not Disconnect" seals on them. What bad thing will happen (with the ignition off, battery disconnected, and seat removed) if I disconnected them? Any suggestions on how to check this wiring or fix the problem?
