The wiring harness, inside the headlight assemblies; tend to get very hot and the insulation falls off, plugs, terminal ends, can get loose from heat. Tunemyeuro, sells a upgraded wiring harness; I've used them and they have better wires and use oem plugs. NOTE: this will NOT work on the Turbo S headlights; they are different, then the normal ones.

Upgraded Wiring - VW Beetle Headlight Harness - 1C0971671 (AAR1083)

$26.99

The Dorman harnesses, get bad reviews and the genuine VW replacements, will just end up failing again.

The AARodriguez replacement harness; goes to 2005. Is your New Beetle, definitely a 2005 and have the old style headlights or the 2006-2010 revision? Maybe, post the part #'s on the headlight assembly and post some photos of the headlight assembly, plug; see, if it might be a later model or Turbo S?
