Greetings all! I was wondering could I ask for more assistance. I have been trying to fix up a 1.6l beetle I bought and noticed some gaffer tape around a hose near the oil filler cap. When I unwrapped it; it looked like this

Would I be right in thinking that it shouldn’t look like that and possibly it has been wrapped with gaffer tape because it’s either broken or leaking?

its 2002 @billymade - 1.6l engine (based in Norther Ireland so i believe the US didnt get that variation?)

random question, but could this be a culprit in causing rough running and white smoke from the exhaust too? Or is that a completely different issue?

i had just used obd fusion tool on my phone and it wasnt bring up any codes at all
