2001 1.9 TDI. Got the oil changed twice in the last two month (This is normal as I drive a lot). I’m noticing that the oil seems to be disappearing though. Doesn’t seem to be burning it as I don’t see white smoke from exhaust. Also I haven’t noticed any oil in driveways or where I park. I’ve added 2 quarts twice just this week. Where could it be going?

Any blue smoke out the tailpipe? Is the back of the car covered with fine oil droplets?
Are there any big puddles under your car?
I guess you do drive a lot 20 k miles a month is a lot of driving!!!

No puddles, only black smoke (diesel life lol). No oil droplets, I actually just washed her today too. And no puddles underneath. Yeah I drive a ton, I’m a pilot escort driver for oversized loads. I’ve been doing oil changes around every 5-8k miles because I’ll do 700 or more miles a day sometimes and that’s a lot of stress on the engine.

Those little diesels love to be driven, black smoke means you have an air leak in your boost hoses somewhere. That does not explain the oil usage. Check your lower boost pipe, the one behind your passenger front tire where it connects to the intercooler. If more than a few tablespoons are found your turbo is on its way out.

When was your timing belt last done?

What’s your IQ set at? 1 through 5 …1 is Smokey but more power 5 is better mpg but less power.
Where is your timing set?
