PO had the timing belt, tensioner and water pump replaced. Now the car has a rattle from 1800-2200 RPM's. Today I removed the upper timing belt cover and ran the engine, still has the rattle. Sounds like it's coming from right side.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm not sure if the timing chain would make the noise only from those rpm's. It sounds like the rattle is on the outside of the engine. My first thought was a exhaust or turbo shield, but I haven't found anything loose yet.

It looked like the lower cover was up against the serpentine belt tensioner. Anything I should check with the tensioner ? Thank you for the reply.

Without actually hearing the sound for myself it is hard to make specific suggestions; what is your engine code and the year of your NB?

on my daughters 2.0 the skid plate was loose and rattling, tightened up and no more. its #34 in the image.

Could be a bad alternator pulley as well.

Watch the serpentine belt tensioner, it should be very stable, if it is walking or dancing back and forth, the alternator one way clutch pulley could be seized.
