I have a 2004 new beetle convertible gls 2.0.
The rear speakers do not work. They aren't blow because they make no sound what so ever.
My rear defrost button lights up, but nothing happens. The rear defrost does not get warm the rear window at all.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated .

Have you checked fuses or tested the wiring?

This is a late response but. The rear speakers can definitely be blown even if they don’t make noise. I had the front door speakers on my beetle not work and initially I thought it was a wiring problem. I ended up buying new oem door speakers and it worked I had sound again from my doors. The oem speakers especially in the rear are cheap paper speakers and any moisture will ruin them. As for the rear defrost it is possible the traces on the window got scraped somewhere. I would check for any damages on the lines. They act very similar to Christmas lights. You take one bulb out or have a blown bulb and the rest won’t work.
