Remote key won't program

Finally got the power windows, mirrors, and alarm system working by replacing the driver's door wiring harness and power window motor, which the PO had installed and were the wrong part number for the car. Also installed a good used Comfort Control Module (of the correct part number).

So all of the comfort/convenience/alarm functions are working, EXCEPT the remote key fob.

I've cleared all the DTC's from the CCM and followed the procedure to activate the fob: Push either the lock or unlock button on the fob for 1 second, and then stick the key in the door and either lock or unlock the door. But the key still won't pair with the CCM. Battery voltage in the key battery is 3.0v and little LED light in the fob does blink when any of the buttons are pushed.

Can anyone help?

In order to program a key you will need either:

1) VAG-COM or VCDS

or

2) 2 working keys (can be either "remote" or "valet" style keys, both must currently work in the ignition)
I have VAG-COM/VCDS, talk to me!

I don't have the valet key. All I have is the switchblade master key.

I had this problem last month. 5 years ago, I got a new one for Ernie, my 99 NB, I went to a local Key shop, and they programed it with no problem. (I purchased my key from Ebay) Last month, I went to get a spare key for Annie, my 04 vert, and they couldn't do it, said I would have to take it to a dealer. I try to stay away from dealers, they tend to be very expensive;) Good luck!!!
Using VAG-COM to program a key: Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Remote Control Matching Info
Thank you!

I also found this site last night. In the "sidewinder key" area, there is coding info down at the bottom of the page.

Update:

Fixed!

I'm kinda shocked at how easy that was.

Simply access the CCM via VAG-COM/VCDS, select channel 10 (adaptation), and then enter the number of keys to be programmed.....in my case, that was "1." Then hit "test" and "save" so it stores that number, and then hit the "Unlock" button on the remote. The alarm horn beeps, indicating that the remote is paired. That's it, done.

Thanks for the help! That puts a wrap on the last of the laundry list of electrical problems this car showed up with. It's a real car again!
Thank you sir!
There are some girls around here too :p
My apologies. I've edited my post.
Smiley is probably one of the most knowledgeable girls i "know".
