Remote locking not working on drivers side RHD

Hi I wonder if someone could give me some advice,
I recently bought a 2000 Beetle which needed a bit of work but I'm having problems with the remote locking but only on the drivers side door.

The central locking works fine so does the alarm and I can lock the passenger side on the remote no problem so I decided to change the latch mechanism on the drivers side but it's still the same as before .

I don't know if it's related but I also can't do the boot/trunk lock via the key remote but it works ok using the switch in the door panel plus the key in the boot.
