ruff idle

I have 2004 vw beelte it starts fine but soon goes into a hard idle I have multiple misfire codes and a 2181 code and a 2279 code I am hoping the 2279 code is causing the misfire code any help thanks also I just put on a new fuel filter

When were the spark plugs last changed? What engine do you have? Are you getting misfires on all cylinders or just some?

The 2279 looks to be an air intake leak. I'd start by looking for vacuum line leaks.
