Hello guys and gals,

My wife and I just bought our first Beetle, an 04 silver coupe with 2.0 and auto trans.

I have a question....

We bought this car used, and found out that the handles (loop type) on the side of the front seats (air bag seats) seem to come off of the mechanism for folding the seat forward, really easy. Is somthing broken, how do I fix them as both side do this.

I had that problem on my driver's side. I mixed up some JB weld, and stuck it back on there. 6 months and going strong.

Mine come off easily too. In fact the salesman pulled the drivers side off trying to figure out how to work them. Really embarrased him too! If I make sure to push toward the headrest and not pull up they stay on fine. But JB weld or something similar would probably be a good idea since other people won't know that.

Wow, It's never come off of any of our three NBs......

I'd only had my car for about three weeks when mine came off. My bf took it and hand it hand washed, hand waxed, and detailed (I still don't know why he thought he was in trouble!). When they were detailing it, the handle came off. My bf pulled the mechanism out with his pliers and reattached it. No more problems.

Now you watch, it'll come off tomorrow when we're cleaning it out.
