Several bad codes - spark knock?

Hi all, new to the "new" bug family. Last one I had was a 74' and things have changed. I got a used 2000 with a 2.0 Car runs great once you get passed 40mph. Before that, especially under load, it seems to have a spark knock. It is definitely coming from top of the motor. (acts as though it is bad crank or rod bearing) but the noise is coming from the top. To hear the knock, I have to put it in drive, hold the break and gas it to about 1500rpm's.

Today I took it in to my parts store and got the following codes - P0411, P1582, P0300-P0304 and finally P0137

I have changed the spark plugs, wires and ignition coil.

Again, this is strange because the motor runs perfect in park and after aprox 40mph's. Any ideas or is it time to break out the check book?

Thanks, Stan the man

Looks like you got yourself a bunch going on...

Possible Symptoms

Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON

Possible Causes

Fuel Pump Relay (J17) faulty
Hoses/Pipes to/between Components faulty/clogged
Secondary Air Injection Pump (V101) faulty
Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay (J299) faulty
Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Fuel Pump Relay (J17)
Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
Check Secondary Air Injection Hoses/Pipes for Carbonization
Check Secondary Air Injection Pump (V101)
Check Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay (J299)
Check Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112)

Did you gap your sparkplugs before replacing them?
Yep, did gap it before i replaced. problem was same before i replaced plugs, wires and ignition coil. i just wanted to rule that out first as it would have been an easy fix.

everyone that drives it that i respect opinion of say it acts just like a scored crank or rod bearing because it only makes the sound when under load at low rpm's. in park it runs like a dream. at high rmp's and speeds over 40 it runs great too. so this is a strange one for me.

smileybug, yeah...i know. i'm scared this one is going to the dealer. at least that way i can find out exactly what i'm up against. it's just not in my nature to give up. but this is quite a bit different than my 74' I had as a kid.
First P0137 points to oxygen sensor low voltage and that's not related to any other parts. Check battery connections and pre-cat oxygen sensor connections and wires. If they are all good replace the oxygen sensor. Second guess is that you have a vacuum leak, especially to the solenoid that controls the secondary air control valve. Also check the hose from air filter housing to the secondary air pump.

replaced oxygen sensor. down 1 code now. i'll be updating after I check those hoses. but as of an hour ago...I was not able to find anything out of the ordinary as far as air hoses. hose from air filter is in good shape. no leaks there. will check solenoid.

thanks for your help!
You can either borrow or buy a vacuum gauge to measure the vacuum it will tell you everything. Just look at a Haynes manual or look it up on the internet to get to know how to decode the vacuum.
