hi all , this is my first technical post. my 2001 suddenly loses power, then regains it and lurches forward. it also shakes and judders heavily, usually when pulling of at junctions or round-a-bouts, and it also keeps high revs even when foot is taken off accelerator. the next day it may be fine. I think throttle body was changed by previous owner. my mechanic has checked coil pack and plugs but not the problem. error codes shown are 17978,17579,17950,17972,17551, but again I think these were from previous problem?
any ideas gratefully received as it seems it could be one, or many problems!!! oh, epc light and esp lights both come on at times too...oh and Ive only had the car 3 weeks so think I know why the last seller sold it,lol!!!:D

Most of your trouble codes; are related to the throttle body and possible the maf. I would start with a complete and thorough cleaning of the throttle body and adapt it, preferably with vids but the poor mans version, maybe fine. After that; I would clear all the codes and see how the car runs, check for any returning codes. On the 2.0l, many people here have had issues with drivability problems with a TB, that is dirty or has lost its alignment settings. Do the clean and adapt of the TB, clear the codes and we will go from there. Here are some links that should be helpful:

throttle body probs cont...

hi, mechanic reset the above codes and ran the car again, and only one code came up after the tb reset, that is 17579, p1171 angle sender 2 for throttle valve drive-g188; implausible signal.
mechanic thinks I need a new throttle body although as i've said, it appears a previous mechanic thinks the tb has already been replaced. I don't want to waste time and money if that problems already been attacked, any ideas as to other likely causes?
(he said my options are a pricey bosch part, seimens part or a breaker yard part, whats best?!)
oh and am I doing any damage by continuing to drive the car whilst these probs exist?
thanks for any help, im loving driving the car, previously had old campers, but the wife for who I bought it is afraid to transport the kids about in case its dangerous so im using it!!!
