Noticed that with the hot weather, the fan is running after the car is turned off. That makes sense until it cools down -- But, should "both" fans be running? It seems to be just the one on the passenger side that is on?

Do the fans do different things? Or should they always be on in unison.

Thanks for any insight.

So, what determines whether the second or driver's side fan comes on?

just trying to understand.

Both fans should be running on MKIV vehicles, what change is the speed as the engine temperature increases (two speed fan switch).

It is normal for the fans to run for a short time after the car is shut off if engine temp. is elevated, the fans will run at high speed always when the A/C is on.

yes

yes both fans could be running(slow speed) after ignition is off via the thermal switch mounted on the radiator. Medium and higher speeds go through the FCM via the CPU.
