OK, so I changed all 4 headlight bulbs to led so i can see at night but it seems like after I did, the bright indicator on my dash is on after I turn my light switch on. Even after unhooking both headlights from the car it's still on. I know it's likely a ground issue, but not sure where to start looking. It is back feeding through the circuit the indicator is on even with both headlights unhooked.

You don’t say what year you are working with. The MK4 generation is 20 years old and the wires in those headlight assemblies was thin to start with and is all cracked and brittle now.
I have replaced and rebuilt the wires in both of my daughters beetle headlights.

Check the harness carefully there are grounds (MK4) under the battery tray. Try putting the old bulbs back in and see if that changes things.

Sorry, it's a 98 w/ 2.0L 4 banger and I had both headlight assemblies out and unhooked and it was still on. When I have time, I'll take a pic and post on here. It'll be in 2-3 hrs from now
